Propose a place dedicated to the discovery of visual arts and accessible to all in Val-de-Reuil (Eure). This is the challenge that was launched the La Laverie association by opening l’Atelier 110.
School and extracurricular activities
Since November, this new space installed on La Dalle, at 110 rue Grande which gave its name to the workshop, has welcomed children from Val-de-Reuil on school and extracurricular times. They are welcomed by Romain Barcella, facilitator at the city’s youth service, who supports them in learning from painting to collage to the creation of comics or animated films on digital media.
Different themes
The possibilities are multiple. “We offer different themes but we also listen to teachers who come with their ideas. My role is then to support them. And I add my own little personal touch,” says Romain Barcella.
To carry out the project, the members of the Laundromat were able to count on the support of the town hall “which quickly showed itself favorable to the project”, explains Gilles Fleury, treasurer of the La Laverie association and director of the Dominos school.
The association also asked the National Education Department to obtain an innovation grant worth €33,000 which made it possible to equip the workshop with furniture and equipment. We have purchased digital equipment, tablets and cameras, but also educational documents that teachers can borrow or consult on site. The goal is really to make the workshop a resource place.
“Enliven the neighborhood”
With Atelier 110, the association wishes to “liven up the Dalle district” by taking advantage of the position of the workshop installed in the former premises of the social landlord 3F Normanville.
The premises had been unoccupied for several years. They are located right next to the La Laverie bar, opposite a car park, the cinema and the MJA. It really is an ideal location, right in the center of the city, which makes it accessible to all schools.
The objective is finally to address “all audiences” with caricature, comics-manga-comics, painting, watercolor and drawing workshops offered to adults and adolescents Monday to Friday from 5 p.m.
