The Weeknd delays the release of his new album

The Canadian singer has decided to postpone a week Hurry Up Tomorrowhis new album, and to cancel the presentation concert « out of respect and concern for the residents of Los Angeles ».

While some were impatiently awaiting this moment, the dramatic situation of the Los Angeles fires is changing the stars’ agenda. Fans of The Weeknd will have to wait another week before being able to listen to the Canadian singer’s new album titled Hurry Up Tomorrow. Initially expected for January 24, The Weeknd announced the postponement date in an Instagram post this Monday, January 13: « Out of respect and concern for the residents of Los Angeles County, the Rose Bowl show has been canceled and the album date has been rescheduled to January 31 » said the singer.

The Weeknd then explained the reasons for his decision: « This city has always been a deep source of inspiration to me, and my thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time ». Before concluding: « My priority remains supporting the recovery of these communities and helping the incredible residents (of Los Angeles) as they rebuild the city.”

This Rose Bowl Stadium concert sold out in an hour with no less than 300,000 fans in line. The location of the musical event has since the fires become the headquarters of the firefighters who organize the fight against the fire there.

After After Hours in 2020 and Dawn FM in 2022, the release of the third part of the Canadian star’s trilogy promises to be an event for fans who have already been able to discover three of his new songs: Dancing in the Flames, Timeless et São Paulo. This could be the artist’s last album under the pseudonym The Weeknd, the singer having announced in May 2023 the intention to abandon it to resume his real name, Abel Tesfaye.
