Obernai region and Bruche valley. Eight major hotels launched into often significant investments

Hostellerie des châteaux (Ottrott)

The Hostellerie des châteaux (four stars, 85 rooms) will start major projects in 2025. The biggest concerns the expansion of the spa. It will go from 2500 to 5000 m2 (with two additional outdoor pools), excluding gardens. The latter will triple in size, reaching 30 ares and stretching to the edge of the forest.

“We were one of the first in Alsace, in 2004, to open our spa to outside customers, with massages, etc. We have already made three expansions since then, but we are a little saturated at times, because it was not designed for the beginning,” explains Guillaume Schaetzel, the managing owner. Work could start this summer for a period of one to one and a half years.

Another project, which concerns customers less, is due to start in March: the construction of a decentralized energy center, with a heating network powered by wood, to replace the gas boiler. This will improve the carbon footprint, save money and heat the two new outdoor pools, in addition to the two current ones.

L’Ami Fritz (Ottrott)

The three-star hotel L’Ami Fritz in Ottrott launched extension work at the end of 2023, with the creation of two new buildings including eight rooms and a wellness area also open to external customers. Around ten additional parking spaces were also created.

The cost of the work, which should be completed in April, amounts to around 4 million euros (M€). The manager, Patrick Fritz, hopes to expand his clientele and encourage them to increase the average length of their stay.

Two additional people were hired. The manager is looking to recruit three more, mainly for rooms.

6717 Nature hôtel & spa (Ottrott)

The 6717 Nature hotel & spa (formerly Clos des délices) had invested €10 million to reopen in 2021 with the addition of suites and a 2,500 m spa2. In 2024, some new features were introduced, with the creation of a salt cave and private rest bubbles.

At the beginning of 2025, the Schaetzel family, owners of the four-star establishment, which has 18 rooms and 15 suites, plans to renovate the rooms in their historic building. The owners also announce the opening of a restaurant with around twenty seats, La Table du 6717, in May.

La Cheneaudière (Colroy-la-Roche)

The forest house which adjoins the five-star hotel La Cheneaudière will be transformed into a living space for staff (130 employees), including in particular a restaurant and a games and rest room. The investment is €3.5 million excluding tax, work is due to start this week.

The hotel complex’s house currently occupied by staff will be demolished to expand the spa by 800 m2. An investment of €6 million, work on which is planned for the last quarter of 2026.

This includes expanding the changing rooms to better accommodate customers from outside the hotel, which has increased significantly. The new spa space will extend over several levels, with additional activities.

In March 2025, the gourmet restaurant (30 seats, now called Le Feuillage) will also be renovated. He is aiming for a Michelin star. The hotel has a second restaurant, described as gourmet (Le Chêne, 60 seats).

Note that La Cheneaudière will also build “a little sister”, in , the Villa Cose, with work scheduled to begin this month of January.

Chez Julien (Fouday/Plaine)

The Goetz family, which manages the hotel-restaurant Julien et Spa, has started extension work since January 2023. If the capacity of the hotel (74 rooms) must remain the same, the spaces will be redeveloped to create more. more spacious. The dining rooms will also be transformed, to make them more comfortable for customers and more practical for staff. The hotel is also planning improvements to the premises reserved for employees.

Secondly, it is planned to expand the spa.

Le Colombier (Obernai)

The family group Diana Hôtels Collection has launched a significant investment (it does not wish to disclose the amount, which is in millions of euros) to renovate all of the 54 rooms at Le Colombier (bathrooms included), one of its two four-star hotels in downtown Obernai. Work started in 2024 and should be completed in spring 2025.

The group bought the neighboring La Diligence hotel in 2020, also upgrading it to four stars. It has a total of 15 hotels in Alsace and Switzerland.

The hotel park (Obernai)

In 2024, the first tranches of the €20 million investment announced in June 2023 have been delivered. The Yonaguni spa (open to external customers) has been expanded from 2500 to 3000 m2 and the spa reserved for hotel guests has been redone. With an area of ​​500 m2 it reopened in the fall, under the name Yonasaya.

This year, delivery of part of the underground car park is planned for spring. The new wing of the hotel should open in the first half of 2026. The overhaul of the restaurants is also scheduled for next year.

Then, a complete renovation of what remains of the current hotel is planned. The end of this project, whose budget has been reassessed to €25 million, is now announced for 2028 or 2029. “It only has the facade which we will not touch,” announces Maxime Wucher, who manages the project. family with his sister Marie.

The 5 Lands (Barr)

The only five-star hotel in the Obernai region, located in the heart of Barr, in a historic building, opened this summer a heated outdoor swimming pool measuring 20 x 6 m, with a green space area, which provides a real more. He also now has his own chef at the restaurant La Table du 5, Thomas Koehren.

On the project side, if the expansion of the spa and the creation of new rooms (27 currently) remain current, it will not be for 2025.
