Like his soft and airy songs, Mune likes to take his time to unveil its new titles over the months. The first of them, Sitting on the edge of the worldwhich gives its name to the album, was released a year ago. The second – the magnificent After the storm – eleven months ago, and the third – The animal awakening – the December 10, 2024 in the form of a live video shot at nightfall in the dunes of Biville (Manche).
Dreamlike and rather nocturnal songs
The EP also includes an interlude in the form of a poem, as well as the song Tell me about it. “I have it written with my son in mindwhich was not yet born, it’s a kind of future discussion,” confides Maxime Lamotte, the Rozel artist who is behind this Mune project. Singer-songwriter graduated in musicology, the young man of 34 ans brilliantly crafts dreamlike and rather nocturnal songs, sometimes coming from his dreams.
“I recorded everything in my tiny house, and the mastering was done in Paris by Alex Gopher, who collaborates with many talented artists like Zaho de Sagazan. » At the crossroads of independent folk pop and the new French song, his airy voice recounts the collapse of a world, perhaps ours, through the prism of the intimate.
The wind, the storm, the dunes, the waves… all this nature inspires me: my songs are not very happy, but there is still hope…
With his experience within his former groups, and in particular Alphabet with which he participated in renowned festivals (Transmusicales, Vieilles Charrues, Printemps de Bourges, Chauffer dans la Noirceur, Art’zimutés…), Maxime Lamotte has been developing this solo project for over a year… with the duo in parallel Abisko set up in 2019 with his partner Céline.
Guitar, synth, drum machine and perched pad that resembles a moon “to create a visual identity”: it’s a one-man band with a captivating voice who will arrive at the Harlequin theater in Cherbourg, Friday January 17 and Saturday January 18, 2025.
A film concert in the first part
“Live, I usually play for more than an hour a dozen compositions and two covershe announces. And in the first part, the public will be able to discover the magnificent film concert Flowers will grow on our bonesa film by 25 minutes directed by Dylan Cozian and also directed by Olivier Le Saux (Editor’s note: both from Cherbourg) and in which I play alongside Céline Léger and Nikita Ray. The musicians Dylan and Tristan will be live during the screening, we also participate in two songs with Céline. »
