Since taking over the official fashion show calendar in October 2014, the CFDA has become the sole organizer of New York Fashion Week. Founded in 1945 by publisher Ruth Finley, the now digital Fashion Calendar is the leading event and show scheduling and planning tool for designers, press, retailers, PR agencies and the fashion sector as a whole.
In 2022, the CFDA created the NYFW Travel Fund to provide visibility and highlight the cultural, artistic and economic impact of New York Fashion Week. Now in existence for six seasons, the fund has already been used to support 44 international journalists financially and logistically, thanks to brand contributions and strategic partnerships.
“NYFW is the premier opportunity for designers and brands to tell their stories and share their work in alignment with their communities and business needs. The next season will represent themes that we find throughout the industry: calibration and innovation,” says Joseph Maglieri, Fashion Week projects director at CFDA.
The CFDA is a non-profit trade association founded in 1962 that includes more than 350 of America’s most renowned women’s, men’s wear, jewelry and accessories designers.
