Behind the scenes of Seth Rollins’ cash-in at WrestleMania 31

Seth Rollins’ famous cash-in at WrestleMania 31 is now 10 years old. In 2015, the former Shield member became the first ever to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the biggest stage of them all.

Recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet, Seth Rollins returned to this cash-in and revealed that the idea came from him. He offered her to WWE after seeing the crowd’s reaction to Roman Reigns’ victory at the Royal Rumble. He declares:

“Roman [Reigns] wins the Royal Rumble to boos. Even The Rock came out to try to support him, but that didn’t change anything. I told myself it didn’t smell good. You don’t want to give him that title at WrestleMania. If he gets booed when he first wins the title, that’s not good. At this point, I’m a bad guy. If I win the title, it will give the audience time to understand who is supposed to be the good guy in this story against me.

I came up with this idea, left it in the air for a while and was still doing the storyline with Randy Orton leading up to WrestleMania. After my match against Randy, I had the first confirmation that we were going in this direction. I don’t know who came up with the idea for Triple Threat. My idea was a cash-in after the match. Someone came up with the idea of Triple Threat and it was a brilliant way to do it that I had never thought of.”
