The International Children’s and Youth Book Fair returns for a second edition in Casablanca

Casablanca intends to remind people that the taste for reading is acquired from a very young age. It is with this in mind that the metropolis will host the second edition of the International Children’s and Youth Book Fair (SILEJ) from December 14 to 22 at the Anfa Park space.

A call for tenders for the organization of the fair was launched by the Ministry of Culture for an estimated budget of 33 million dirhams. Local authors, illustrators and publishers will have the opportunity to showcase their works to young audiences, while visitors will be able to discover works by foreign authors translated into Arabic and French.

This intercultural exchange will promote better visibility of Moroccan talents while opening a window on global trends in children’s literature. Signing sessions and meetings between young readers and their favorite authors or illustrators are thus planned. Enough to strengthen the link between young audiences and the world of writing, encouraging them to further explore the world of books and develop their taste for reading.

SILEJ will also offer a series of creative, educational and scientific workshops, as well as debates focused on literature and art. This event will also serve as a meeting place and debates between the different actors of the book chain, families, teachers and educational institutions around the common objective of promoting reading and the education of young people.
