In Saint-Malo, Sophie Ladame presents her winter exhibition

The artist presents an exhibition there twice a year, to the rhythm of the solstice, one in winter and the second in summer. Sophie Ladame became “attached to the port” of Saint-Malo at the age of 16, embarking as a sailor aboard the Renard, the privateer cutter. Saint-Malo becomes its port of inspiration in the broad sense. “She-wolf of the seas” passionate about drawing and watercolor, Sophie Ladame makes her “hobby horses” her art of living.

In the 2024-2025 winter exhibition, we find the themes of nature, living things, the sea, travel, femininity… “I am putting more and more of my personal life”, she admits; “in terms of feeling, emotional intensity, and nostalgia too. In this exhibition, I wanted to express the femininity embodied by the indigenous woman. The one that makes you fantasize. This femininity which expresses itself simply while asserting itself. I envy their simple relationship with things. » adds Sophie Ladame.

A new element composes her drawings and paintings: the lettering that she writes like the title of a poster. “I like the graphic style of the posters. I wanted to integrate words that resonate with the eye. » The exhibition also presents drawings inspired by comic strips and “Papillon”, the successful autobiographical story by Henri Charrière, written in 1969. With “The Dream Life of a Butterfly”, Sophie Ladame and Sylvère Denné signed a new four-handed comic book, after “Bleu amer” published by La Boîte à Bulles. On sale “On the margin”.
