Michael Fassbender has revealed he had a near-death experience that made him a bigger fan of ABBA.
The ‘Agency’ actor admitted he never really liked the Swedish pop group, but during a nighttime boat trip in Ibiza, his boat got caught in a storm and while he was “Hanging” on the boat, he joked that the lyrics to “Dancing Queen” finally made sense to him.
On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Michael said, “I never really liked ABBA. And then we were in Ibiza – we were actually in Formentera, and we were taking a boat from Formentera to Ibiza. We had a late lunch, and we were coming back in the evening, and it was really stormy. It was really, really bad. We had already taken our small tender boat to join the main boat taking us back to Ibiza, and it started to deflate as we headed towards the boat. So we managed to get back, but the boat sank and we laughed about it. »
He continues: “We went out on the boat and the storm broke, the plates and everything else flew. We had to lock everything down, but we had ABBA on full blast. I was hanging on to the boat, ABBA was playing and I finally understood ABBA.”
Michael added: “I was like, ‘If we’re going to die tonight, this is a good soundtrack to die for.’
