L’Symphony Orchestra of Haute Mayenne (OSHM) offers the 19e edition of Christmas concerts Saturday December 21, at 4 and 8 p.m., at the Mayenne multipurpose room.
From Schubert to Hisaishi!
The OSHM (Haute Mayenne Symphony Orchestra) is 70 musicians volunteers. The program this year will be that of the symphonic music first of all, with some of the most beautiful pages of the repertoire of yesterday and today, of Schubert in Hisaishi.
And then that of French song, with the 4 musicians from MaeN, a 100% Mayenne group.
3 pieces
In the first part of concertthe public will be able to (re)discover 3 magnificent pieces from the repertoire for symphony orchestra.
First of all, the first movement of the Unfinished Symphony of Franz Schubert will be performed by the musicians of the OSHM of Mayenne.
This is a emblematic work from the Romantic era, widely used in popular culture (the first melody of this symphony represents Gargamel in the cartoon series The Smurfs).
The public will then travel to the land of the Hobbits thanks to the last movement of Symphony No. 1 composed by Johan de Meij, inspired by Lord of the Rings by J.R. Tolkien.
Finally, a poetic flight for everyone thanks to the soundtrack composed by Joe Hisaishi for the Japanese animated film Howl’s Howl’s Moving Castle by Hayao Miyazaki.
MaeN’s words
In 2019, OSHM accompanied for the first time the 4 musicians of MaNMayenne French song group.
5 years later, it is no less than 7 titresincluding 5 new ones, which will bring the marriage of the French song and symphonic music for the Mayenne public.
THE touching stories and funny pieces of the quartet were set to music and orchestrated by Anne-Laure Guenoux especially for the occasion.
A true artistic collaboration, this second part of concert will allow everyone, young and old, symphonic enthusiasts and lovers of French song, to share a magnificent musical moment.
Date. Saturday, December 21 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., at the Mayenne multipurpose room (53). Minimum price: €5. Recommended price: €8. Solidarity rate: + €8. Concerts accessible to people with reduced mobility, or people with disabilities, with the Quest’Handi association.
