A library inspired by the interiors of Karl Lagerfeld, the use of stainless steel in the bedroom or living room, a bucolic fresco representing an imaginary garden… Architects and decorators never cease to inspire us.
The library inspired by Karl Lagerfeld
Between Harrod’s and Buckingham Palace, one of London’s most exclusive neighborhoods, a townhouse with Georgian architecture catches the attention of a local entrepreneur and art collector. Originally, the house was built on four levels. Child Studio decides to knock down the last one to obtain three floors. Thus, the third becomes a double floor with a mezzanine with a cathedral roof, illuminated by natural light from the attic. This imposing 5 meter high room, covered in books, is reminiscent of the library in Karl Lagerfeld’s apartment, from which the architects say they were inspired — “a space completely enveloped in floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with thousands of art and design albums”. This unique living room combines custom-made and antique furniture, providing a warm and refined atmosphere. And to cultivate the charm of the old, plaster finishes are added to the under-slopes, as well as a spiral staircase leading to the rooftop terrace.

The brushed stainless steel bedroom
A stone’s throw from Avenue Montaigne, opposite the Saint-Régis hotel, it is the pied-à-terre of a businessman who lives in Milan and comes three days a week to Paris. It is redesigned by Raphaëlle Robert and Guillaume Fantin, the interior architects of Le Cann who we remember from the attractive project in Gard. Stainless steel is omnipresent, as in the sleeping area opening into the main room. An assumed choice which requires a treatment incorporating the codes of the apartment: beige tones, Hainaut blue stone, mirrored bedside tables and brushed stainless steel dressing room.

An ultra poetic indoor spa
In a former 19th century silver workshop, the house museum of Ettore Molinario and Rossella Colombari plays on volumes. And is experienced as a place of exhibition between photos and sculptures. You have to walk through a corridor where photos on albumen paper taken in Morocco, Egypt, Burma, Ceylon, Sri Lanka vibrate… before reaching the spa. There, treated wood walls, Japanese prints, a swimming pool with iridescent reflections and a lamp in the shape of a solar disk, like another circle that shines in the night. Because this room is different from all the others: “in the spa, like a moon, the light is reflected in the water of the pool, adding a poetic touch to this serene space. »
