The Executive Office of the Moroccan Chamber of Film Producers (CMPF) held an extraordinary meeting on Saturday, December 14 to examine several key issues affecting the film industry in Morocco, following the adoption of bill n°18.23 relating to to the film industry and the reorganization of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM).
During this meeting, the members of the Bureau gave a detailed update on the evolution of the national cinema sector, and expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the discussions and the transformation of the Moroccan cinema landscape.
In a press release sent to Hespress FRthe CMPF welcomed the provisions of Law No. 18.23, which it considers to be a significant step forward for the development of the film industry in Morocco. This law, according to producers, constitutes a strategic lever to structure and boost the sector. Professionals see it as a renovated legal framework, capable of supporting local production and attracting international projects.
The Chamber also underlined the quality of the interaction with the various players in the sector, particularly during the consultation phases carried out under the aegis of Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, and Abdelaziz Boujdayni, secretary general of the communications sector and director of the CCM. According to the CMPF, this collaboration was essential for enriching the legislative text, taking into account the concerns and proposals of professionals in the sector.
The Chamber considers that Law No. 18.23 marks a turning point in the structuring of the Moroccan film industry. She sees it as an integrated vision that supports local production, while reinforcing the attractiveness of Morocco as a preferred destination for international productions. The country, already renowned for its diverse landscapes and rich culture, could now count on a solid legislative framework to further stimulate foreign filming.
This legislative reform is seen as a response to the deep aspirations of professionals in the sector, who aspire to build a modern, sustainable and competitive film industry. Producers highlight the importance of this law to encourage innovation, creativity and the internationalization of the Moroccan industry.
Another key aspect of the law is the strengthening of governance and transparency in the management of the film sector. The CMPF believes that this reform will be decisive in establishing an environment conducive to national and international film production, by establishing more effective regulatory mechanisms and better management of funds allocated to culture and cinema.
The Moroccan Chamber of Film Producers also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the implementation of this law. She says she is ready to put in place concrete initiatives to guarantee the proper application of the legislative text, in order to achieve the defined objectives and support the growth of the national film industry.
Finally, the CMPF calls on all professionals in the sector to maintain a spirit of cooperation and continue the positive dynamic generated by this new legislation. According to the Chamber, it is only through collective work and general mobilization that the Moroccan film industry will be able to prosper and establish itself as a cultural and economic engine on a national and international scale.
