Thierry Lhermitte hopes for clarification on the causes of Michel Blanc’s death

He left the world of cinema behind in mourning. Michel Blanc died suddenly at the age of 72 on October 3, leaving the Splendid troupe dejected. In an interview given to Sunday newspaper Thierry Lhermitte says he was « collapsed » after learning of the death of his comrade. « It was Josiane (Balasko) who told me that he had suffered a heart attack, he died a little later. » The actor then spoke about the circumstances of Michel Blanc’s death, which could have been caused by an allergic reaction: « We will perhaps know more in a few months, everything is not yet clear », he estimated.

« He was anxious, hypochondriac, always with humor »

Just like his character in The BronzedMichel Blanc had a rather unique personality, and stood out in his own way from the other members of Splendid. Thierry Lhermitte said: « He needed a form of recognition outside the band, which he obtained, notably with an acting prize at Cannes and a César. It was Michel, always plagued by a form of dissatisfaction. We were asked in the book how we managed to get along with quite different personalities, it was precisely through respecting each other’s sensitivities, that of Michel, for example. He was anxious, hypochondriac, always with humor »he explained. Before picturing his words: « When he had redone everything in an apartment, he suddenly found that something was wrong, he no longer liked it. Life in the group was as problematic for him as his apartments. »

Since his disappearance, the members of the troupe have spoken little. In an interview given to Parisian, Thierry Lhermitte explained: « We didn’t want to. We are not forced to share our pain. I don’t feel any obligation of any kind, especially when hot. » Before his death, Michel Blanc had, like all his comrades, participated in the book The Splendid on the Splendid, by commenting on photos of his choice, from his high school years to photos of the Honorary César awarded to the Splendid in 2021.
