Nathalie Doucet is not the type to fear challenges. Especially not in champagne, where his experience is solid. When the Lanson-BBC group asked her, in September 2020, to take over as president of Besserat de Bellefon, in Epernay (Marne), she did not hesitate. She, whose father was an officer in the air force in and whose mother was a French teacher, was then 53 years old and had two grown children. She says she was chosen for “wake up a sleeping beauty”. Give him notoriety again.

We must then return to the rather ancient history of this champagne. Besserat was created in 1843 in Aÿ, not far from Epernay. The marriage between Edmond Besserat, grandson of the founder, and Yvonne Méric de Bellefon gave birth to Besserat de Bellefon. The brand followed a quiet course until 1930, when the restaurant de la Samaritaine, a famous Parisian store, invited Besserat de Bellefon to provide it with a sufficiently creamy and light champagne, which could be served from an aperitif to dessert.
