Dar Al Maghrib, a temporary structure inspired by the architectural codes of Morocco
Every year, Qatar Museums organize a cultural exchange program aimed at introducing the country to an international audience. Through a series of exhibitions, festivals, competitions and events, the programs promote mutual understanding, recognition and appreciation between countries. They thus invite people to explore their cultural similarities and differences.
This year, the choice fell on Morocco. The objective was the following: to highlight the creative genius and the civilizational dynamics of the Kingdom of Morocco. To illustrate this genius, Qatar museums relocated Ksar Aït Benhaddou, an architectural jewel of southern Morocco, to Doha, giving rise to the construction of a temporary structure inspired by the architectural codes of Morocco: “Dar Al Maghrib”.
Inspired by the architecture of Ksar Aït Benhaddou, this architectural landmark is designed as an immersive space. Extending over an area of 1.300 m2it is divided into four distinct thematic zones: land of confluence, land of light, land of encounters, land of passion.
