Elton John was unable to see the musical “The Devil Wears Prada” for which he composed the music due to an eye infection contracted this summer, the British star revealed.
“I haven’t been able to attend many of the presentations because, as you know, I lost my sight,” the 77-year-old singer said at a gala event in London on Sunday evening for the premiere of this show, adaptation of the eponymous successful film by David Frankel, released in 2006.
“So it’s hard for me to see him, but I like to hear him and tonight he sounded good,” he added.
In early September, Elton John revealed that he had contracted an eye infection in his right eye while on vacation in the south of France, having “left him with limited vision in one eye.”
“I am recovering, but it is an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the affected eye,” he added at the time.
In November, he told the American channel ABC that he could no longer see anything in his right eye and that his “left eye was not in the best shape”.
He also indicated that his health problems prevented him from working on new musical projects.
The star with multiple hits, from “Rocket Man” to “Tiny Dancer”, closed his international farewell tour in 2023 by performing at the Glastonbury festival, before a final concert in Sweden.
