It was only nine months after his coronation in May 2023 that King Charles III announced to the whole world that he was suffering from cancer. The latter was discovered after a prostate operation that he had in January 2024. However, the palace clarified that it was not prostate cancer. Buckingham Palace also wrote in a press release : “The king chose to share his diagnosis to avoid speculation and in the hope that it can help the public understand all those around the world affected by cancer”.

Since then, the King of England has taken the time to treat himself and is being followed at the London Clinic in Marylebone, just like Kate Middleton with whom they support each other since they are experiencing the illness at the same time. But, alongside his treatments, William and Harry’s father also had to change his diet. For several months, he has had a stricter diet and must avoid several foods.

At the age of 75, King Charles III, who was suffering from cancer, did everything possible to regain better health. Thus, as revealed to Saga magazine, Tom Parker Bowles, the son of his wife Camilla who is a food critic, the king removed several foods from his diet. He thus specified that the king “re-examined what and when he ate,” After “what he has experienced recently”.

Indeed, the son of Queen Elizabeth II would have greatly reduced his consumption of red meat. He and his wife would thus eat much less beef but that’s not all: they would also have stopped consuming lamb and pork.. “I’m not a nutritionist, but I know that food is part of the body’s medicine. IHe knows when he has the right elements,” Camila Parker Bowles’ son confided to the media.

The link between red meat and cancer

As reported by ANSES (the national agency for food, environmental and occupational health safety) red meat is probably carcinogenic. Indeed, it is stipulated on the site that the consumption of red meat “has been classified as a probable carcinogen for humans in relation to the presence of haem iron, intrinsic compound of red meat”.

Therefore, for health reasons, it is advisable to limit your consumption of red meat or processed meat. These are surely recommendations that King Charles III must have received from his doctors.
