With its Louis Vuitton Accessories Design Graduates Initiative, the Maison wants to highlight the talents of tomorrow in one of the most strategic product categories for the luxury industry.
A competition to detect new luxury talents
Launched last year, the Louis Vuitton Accessories Design Graduates Initiative intends to give visibility to young designers while shaping the Louis Vuitton vision of tomorrow.
The concept? Offer students enrolled in one of the 32 partner fashion schools and universities – including the Institut Français de la Mode, L’Ecole Duperré or Central Saint Martins – the opportunity to respond to a brief on design of a piece of leather goods or a fashion accessory: glasses, belts, hats, the world of travel, jewelry, etc.
With particular precision relating to the use of artificial intelligence. If Louis Vuitton wishes to favor “innovative ideas in design, craftsmanship and sustainability” and authorizes AI as inspiration, the regulation prohibits entering into the AI any information or content belonging to the House and therefore subject to the intellectual property code. “Artificial intelligence cannot be used to generate deliverables, textual presentations or graphical and visual renderings”specifies the brand, which insists on producing designs by hand and/or using computer-assisted 3D graphics programs.
A jury of experts will separate up to five winners based on different criteria such as the quality of flat and 3D drawings, expertise in luxury marketing, the relationship to sustainability or even the interpretation of the codes specific to the universe of the House. Once graduated, the winning profile(s) may be offered a fixed-term or indefinite contract within one of Louis Vuitton’s creative departments.
Eligible profiles have until February 2, 2025 to submit their application on the competition website.
