It is obvious: the Italian cinema is one of the most exciting in the world. We continue to discover, to rediscover its richness, its relevance, its depth.

The 20th edition of the festival!

From the neorealism of Rossellini and De Sica to the masterpieces of Fellini, Visconti, Risi, Moretti and many others, transalpine cinema has never stopped questioning the world by filming its men and women up close, to look its society, its politics and its evils in the world straight in the eye.

After experiencing a slight decline at the turn of the 2000s, Italian cinema is once again shining brightly, thanks to very talented filmmakers like Roberto Begnini, Mattéo Garrone, Emanuele Crialese, Paolo Sorrentino and our favorite, Marco Tullio Giordana. This shows with what impatience we awaited this 20^e edition of Toulouse Italian Film Festival ! It will take place from November 29 to December 8, 2024 and we will be able to meet other fans cinema made in ItalyItalian actors and actresses and, above all, discover or rewatch new films, classics and rarities. In short, we’re going to have fun.

Tributes to Mastroianni and Delon

The festival will be structured around three axes: the centenary of the birth of Marcello Mastroiannia tribute to “Delon the Italian” with screenings of “Rocco and His Brothers” and “The Cheetah”, two marvels in which the recently deceased star radiates talent and beauty. Finally, Marco Tullio Giordanafaithful friend of ABC cinema and director of the marvelous “Our Best Years”, in 2003, will return to Toulouse to present, in the company of actress Béatrice Barison, his new film in preview: “La vita accanto”.

Four other previews will be screened: « Life first » by Francesca Comencini (presented at the Venice Film Festival this year); « Sicilian letters » by Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia, the long-awaited « Parthenope » by Paolo Sorrentino (“La grande Belleza”, “Youth”, “Il Divo”…) and finally “Vermiglio” by Maura Delpeo, Golden Lion in Venice and in the running for the 2025 Oscars for Italy.

Books, exhibitions, meetings

The competition will six new films in the spotlightwho will compete for three prizes: Public, Jury and Students, as well as for the prizes for best young actor and best young actress. Finally, the “panorama” will present six films by established and exciting directors such as Paolo Virzi, Giovanni Veronesi, Daniele Luchetti, PIF.
