The 12 editors of the Youth Press group of the Syndicat des Éditeurs de la Presse Magazine (SEPM) will be present at the 40th Book and Youth Press Fair which takes place from November 27 to December 2. At the “Kiosque de La Presse Jeunesse” stand, the public has a discovery area with around 55 titles from the youth press for free consultation. Also on the program, a meeting room for classes from CP to 4th to participate in 20 media education activities and workshops around the behind the scenes of youth magazines and information with the editorial staff of Okapi, A fond! Science & Life Junior, Astrapi, Tako Kids, I like Reading Max, Understand everything Junior, The Sisters! Pirouette, I like to read, The junior elephant, Mickey’s diary. The public can also take part in a competition, a treasure hunt on the children’s press, which will allow children to win subscriptions to the magazines of their choice at the stand.
Apart from this stand, two interventions by the Youth Press are planned at the Show: “Meeting with the authors and illustrators of the 3 junior elephant comics around the creation of a magazine and ‘a comic strip’ as well as “Intervention by the Association for Media Education (APEM): interactive workshop “the news in debate, developing critical thinking with the press” with Etienne Millien, director of the APEM.
Activities for professionals
For professionals, the SPEM offers a Science & Vie Junior webinar around scientific truth and the presentation of the editorial’s anti fake news kit. But also, a “Parenting and digital” workshop with the Center for Media and Information Education (CLEMI) for mediators and educators who wish to carry out actions aimed at parents around screens.
The youth magazine “is an essential tool to help readers decipher the world around them, question themselves, have fun, relax and dream,” highlights the union press release.
