Raphaël de Casabianca and “Rendez-vous en terre stranger”, it’s (almost) over. This Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the host will accompany a celebrity for the last time to meet an isolated people, in this case the Dolpo-pa in Nepal. It is the actor Tomer Sisley who will share for a few days the daily life of this close-knit community nestled in the high valleys of the Dolpo province, thousands of kilometers above sea level.
“We do not emerge from these experiences unscathed”
It was last June that Raphaël de Casabianca announced his wish to leave the program. Six years after succeeding Frédéric Lopez, the adventurer explained himself in the columns of “Parisien”. “'Rendezvous in unknown land' is physically and psychologically intense and you don't get used to saying goodbye. It's a heartbreak with each trip that leaves its mark. (…) I also have more and more no more difficulty landing and returning to normal life after each trip, which has consequences for me but also for those around me. We do not emerge from these experiences unscathed.had formulated Raphaël de Casabianca in writing.
At the dawn of his last on France 2, the journalist once again confided in our colleagues from “Parisien”. “I needed to relax a little, breathe and get back to a normal rhythm. And I didn't want to make the trip too much“, he explained, also mentioning health problems linked to filming the number with Vianney, in January 2021. “I contracted leishmaniasis (a parasitic disease that causes skin lesions) after returning from Ethiopia. But in general, on the last shoots, I had to adapt to an altitude of 5,000 meters, living in -30 degree zones… It's intense“, he insisted.

Raphaël de Casabianca also said that Frédéric Lopez, who had given up hosting the program for the same reasons (while remaining the producer) had “warned“. “But at the time, I was galvanized by the desire to meet these people, to travel… And I had underestimated what this could do over time“, admits the journalist today. The one who will now focus on his series of travel books entitled “Pétaouchnok” and the launch of a “mook”, a book-magazine, planned for the “first half of 2025”, had a little word for those who will succeed him on the air.
It is in fact Laury Thilleman who will take over the presentation of “Rendez-vous en terre stranger” on France 2, and Samuel Ostiguy who will be at the head of “Our unknown lands” on France 3.I spoke quickly with Laury but I didn't know Samuel. However, I have no lessons or advice to give them. Every person is different. Above all, I hope that they will have a lot of fun over time and that they will know how to protect themselves sufficiently.“, said the former presenter of “Échappées belles”. Laury Thilleman filmed the next number of “Rendez-vous en terre stranger” at the beginning of October 2024, but no details have filtered out concerning his guest and their destination.
