Solist at the Prague National Opera since 2021, Petr Nekoranec, 32, is as comfortable in baroque as in romanticism, and also works with living composers, such as the British Iain Bell, who dedicated a cycle of melody. If Nekoranec made his French debut in Toulouse in 2022, the Parisians only discovered in March 2024, in David and Jonathan, by Charpentier, this tenor with a winged voice. Cut out for a haute-contre, the role of David, which he reprized in December in Lille and Lyon, suited him perfectly.
Seven months later, we found the singer in the intimate bonbonniere of the Théâtre de l’Athénée, with pianist Alphonse Cemin and a repertoire 100% dedicated to his native country. Between popular songs arranged by Janáček and Martinů and the moving Diary of a missing person, by Janáček, the polyglot musician mischievously told himself in charming French: he was born in Gustav Mahler’s native village, everyone in Moravia knew the melodies of his program, but only one person per family knew them. all the words…and it wasn’t him! As an encore, an operatic aria reminded the captivated audience that the recitalist also excelled on opera stages. Where we hope to hear it again very soon.
