“Each cinema has a particular atmosphere and aura, which cannot be easily defined, much less linked to something concrete.” The feeling that drives the narrator of See further when she first enters the Mozi, an abandoned cinema located in a small Hungarian town, is indeed elusive. In this locality of Alföld, a vast plain which extends over several countries, everything is missing: it is a “land of absence”. But in the center is this cinema, surprisingly large. It is abandoned and arouses the curiosity of the narrator.
No doubt she is touched by its “smell, not very healthy but full of childhood memories of vacation spots where the summer heat saturated every pore, every fiber.” She decides to buy it and renovate it to bring it back to life. The arrival of this stranger in the village and her crazy project arouses at best indifference, and at worst mockery from the inhabitants.
