Taboo: Agathe Lecaron did not fall in love with her eldest son at birth

Agathe Lecaron dared to say out loud in her podcast “Is it serious?” something many mothers experience without ever saying it. Between the baby mythologized during pregnancy and the one we discover at birth, there is sometimes a small gap.

The host of “La Maison des Maternelles” breaks the taboo of the mother immediately falling in love with her infant.

The host of “La Maison des Maternelles” breaks the taboo of the mother immediately falling in love with her infant.

In his podcast “Is it serious?” she exposed her reactions to the birth of her first son, in 2014. And it wasn’t love at first sight.

“I wasn’t expecting this child at all,” she said. “Gaspard came out with the spoons, the guy looked like Donald Trump. I was expecting a little blond guy, he’s brown with dark skin… like his father.

This famous instant bond described in childcare books, films and many mothers, Agathe Lecaron admits that she did not feel it, and was worried about it. “When I had Gaspard on my stomach, I didn’t create the bond right away,” she said. I had a feeling that it wasn’t going to last. It’s very complicated because we’ve been told so much that suddenly we’re going to discover ultimate love.”

“But what is this love? When will I feel this thing that people told me about, this wave? she asks herself.

His guest, midwife Anna Roy, provides a reassuring answer. Agathe Lecaron’s experience is not exceptional. Far from it. “Reciprocal love at first sight like in the movies is quite rare,” she says. “In fact, I haven’t seen it in many women, actually. It’s not very common to fall in love at first sight. Totally normal.”

However, if the link is not made in the following weeks, you must consult. “I would panic after a few weeks, I wouldn’t let it drag on,” advised Anne Roy.
