Majaz, act II: An explosive cocktail of art

Majaz is the workshop where dreams take shape! This program nourishes the audacity of young Moroccan artists by offering them a space for free and limitless expression. Act II invites us to discover five unique universes, so many windows opening onto an abundant plastic diversity, reflecting a generation in search of benchmarks and experimentation.

First of all, Amina Azreg follows a surrealist vein with an almost introspective delicacy. His works, deeply marked by the memory of Casablanca, question the boundaries of perception by dissolving reality in dreams. By playing on the resonances between the imagination and a pictorial heritage that defies time, she orchestrates a poetic immersion where every detail seems suspended between the tangible and the ephemeral.

Then, Safae El Kadi, with an approach anchored in the tradition of the support/surface movement, offers a resolutely personal signature. Through the deconstruction of the plastic properties of materials, she explores their contradictions and their hidden depth. This approach, driven by a playful philosophy, transforms the material into a space for questioning. Thus, she invites us to rediscover the invisible at the heart of the visible, giving her works a reflective and innovative force.

Furthermore, Karim Barka acutely questions the interactions between the “Me” and the Other, particularly in so-called peripheral social contexts. His art, rooted in the essential elements of life – earth, air, fire, water – goes beyond artistic categories. He combines drawing, painting, sculpture and installation to construct a story where temporality dialogues with poetry and politics.

For his part, Aymane Errachidi makes the desert a striking metaphor for human resilience. Inspired by the landscapes of his childhood in Laâyoune, he explores the fineness of sand, which he transforms into a plastic material. His resin sculptures and charcoal drawings reinvent desert geographies, oscillating between the microscopic and macroscopic scale. Thus, it offers visual poetry where the austerity of landscapes rubs shoulders with their beauty, illustrating the adversity and admiration that the desert inspires.

Finally, Ilias Elhaddaoui stands out for his conceptual rigor which questions the place of humans among other species. Drawing on theories of evolution and anti-speciesism, he develops an aesthetic where the animal kingdom and humanity dialogue in a disturbing mirror game. Through painting, sculpture and video, he develops an ethical and philosophical quest, denouncing inter-species discrimination.

Each, through a unique and daring approach, goes beyond traditional frameworks to invite the visitor to an exploration of the world that is as intimate as it is collective.
