Quincy Jones awarded a posthumous Oscar

The famous American music producer and trumpeter Quincy Jones was posthumously awarded an honorary Oscar during a moving Hollywood gala which took place on Sunday in front of an audience of stars.

The titan of the American music industry, known for producing hit records for a veritable pantheon of music industry legends, ranging from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson, has died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 91 years old, just two weeks before receiving one of the Academy’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Governors Awards.

His daughter, actress Rashida Jones, accepted the Oscar on his behalf, telling the audience that the legendary producer was “really excited to come tonight.”

“He often said: Live each day as if it were your last, and one day you will be right. And he did that… the most beautiful and best life,” she added, to thunderous applause.

“The truth is that this man had an equally powerful impact on the world of cinema,” said actor Jamie Foxx while presenting his award.
