The traditional preparatory trip for candidates for the Miss France election kicked off on Sunday, with a festive arrival at Abidjan international airport. Already, some regional Misses are standing out…
Some candidates are already standing out… at least, on the dancefloor. Or rather on the tarmac! Sunday evening, the thirty young women competing for the Miss France 2025 election arrived with fanfare at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny international airport in Abidjan. And it is in rhythm that the beauty queens set foot in Ivory Coast. Jumps, clapping hands, cries of joy… Forget the thermal shock from Paris, and the 88% humidity, the candidates transformed the landing strip into a dance floor.
Led by Miss Burgundy, Miss Lorraine and Miss Corsica, the candidates were surprised to discover costumed musicians and dancers as they got off the plane. Most of their comrades had not yet touched down when some of them hastily got rid of their suitcases to join the fanfare. Quickly, some Misses led the dance, like Miss Guyana: Jade Fansonna demonstrated her dancing skills by swaying her hips perfectly in rhythm to the drums and the “Guiana!” Guyana! Guyana! » chanted by her friends surrounding her. Because yes, in the Miss France adventure, the candidates are called, not by their first name, but by their region.

We know of one who is already leaving with an advantage for the preparation of the election of December 14, since the evening will be placed under the theme of dance. In addition to Miss Guyana, the reigning Miss France Eve Gilles, who played dance teachers before her reign, also easily followed the Ivorian artists, hand in hand with Cindy Fabre (Miss France 2005 and director of the national competition ). Two other former Miss France are also on the trip since Maëva Coucke (Miss France 2018) and Diane Leyre (Miss France 2022) will play teachers this year for certain masterclasses.

Rhythmic but relaxed holiday camp atmosphere
It was therefore quite a delegation which left Paris Orly airport on Sunday noon, for the traditional preparatory trip before the election of Miss France. A trip which, like every year, takes on the air of a holiday camp, with the blow-dry and heels to boot. Led by their two chaperones, the candidates move in a row and follow the directions to the letter. To make a pee stop, you raise your arm, to grab a sandwich before boarding, you have four minutes to make your choice.
Because the Miss France company makes fairness its top priority, the thirty young women are all dressed the same: a white hooded sweatshirt embroidered with “Miss France” (which fans can now obtain on the official store) and leggings black. Cristina Cordula would lose her Portuguese, Geneviève de Fontenay her hat, but this casual travel outfit – much more so than in previous years – does not tarnish the bright eyes of passers-by.

Travelers, security agents, flight attendants… Everyone takes the time to follow the Miss ballet at the airport, their phone in hand. “We’re amazed!”, says a security agent euphorically. Already at ease in the face of so many curious people, the Misses willingly lend themselves to the game of selfies, in particular Miss Martinique (Angélique Angarni-Filopon), a professional flight attendant, who meets with amusement some colleagues from her company Corsair. And even when we ask them for photos, forgetting good manners, the smile is always impeccable. The competition has indeed started and the organizers are watching.
When curious novices meet real fans
Already, some attract more attention. « This is the first time we’ve seen Misses. We spotted Miss Guyana [décidément]and Miss Pays-de-la-Loire is pretty,” comment two travelers leaving for Reunion, their bags on their backs. “ We saw Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais too, I had read an article about her and the attacks on her origins…” For his part, Erwan, 21, is not at all a fan of the Misses, but he can’t help but linger to take a few photos, “for his family,” he says. A few steps away, however, is a fan, a real one, who came expressly to follow the big departure after having carried out his little investigation on the date, place and time on social networks…
“This is the second time I have traveled, I had already followed the departure in Guyana last year. It allows me to discover the profiles of new candidates and the choice is not going to be easy this year! I like Miss Burgundy, Saint-Barthélemy and Tahiti. Mayotte and Réunion too. It’s always interesting to see them in real life, beyond the photos on social networks”, estimates the man who will be forced to follow the election on his TV next month, because he was unable to get his ticket for Futuroscope , they sold out so quickly.
Hortense, 52, and her two grown children, Ivorians and also fans of Miss, will also be in front of their screen: “ We are used to following the Miss France election from Ivory Coast. It is a pride to welcome the trip! » A busy week awaits the candidates for this stay in West Africa (a first for the Miss France company): cultural activities, photo sessions, makeup, catwalk and eloquence classes, general knowledge test… On their return to France, the young women will begin rehearsals for the show which will accompany the election of Miss France 2025, which will be held on December 14 at Futuroscope, and which will be broadcast on TF1.
