The St Karl Borromäus Church in Hohenems, Austria, welcomed an audience of prestigious guests this Saturday, June 22. European nobility gathered in this town in Vorarlberg, on the Swiss border, to attend the fabulous wedding of Countess Leonie von Waldburg-Zeil-Hohenems and Count Caspar Matuschka.

The bride crossed Hohenems from the family castle, accompanied by her father, Count Franz Clemens, under the amazed gaze of the town’s inhabitants who witnessed a parade of personalities. The bride’s godfather is King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, who honored her with his presence. The king was accompanied by Queen Máxima and their eldest daughter, Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange.

Countess Leonie’s tiara was a necklace of Archduchess Élisabeth-Françoise
Countess Leonie is a descendant of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria and his wife, Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sissi. The bride also wore a very symbolic family jewel on her head. Countess Leonie chose to wear a necklace mounted as a tiara, which belonged to her great-grandmother, Archduchess Elisabeth-Françoise.
