Damso is making his comeback with an event album, entitled “J’ai menti”. On this disc, he shares a new duet with Angèle, thus reforming an iconic collaboration.
With the “I lied” project, Damso is making his big comeback! And on the eleven tracks presented on this disc, the artist highlights his rap verve, and multiplies the rhythmic pieces. However, he also shows great melancholy. In addition, Damso did not hesitate to share his microphone with other great artists. As a result, he finds rapper Kalash on the title “Alpha”, seven years after the hit “Mwaka Moon”. This album was also an opportunity for Damso to sing with his brother, Michkavie. But it is above all his duet with the singer Angèle which arouses the curiosity of fans of the genre. After the immense success of the song “Démons”, and its 90 million streams on Spotify, the two Belgian artists decided to collaborate once again. Indeed, the song entitled “Try Everything” seems well on its way to achieving the same success. It begins in particular with a gentle melody on the guitar, but the electronic keys very quickly take over. As the lyrics prove, Angèle and Damso play a loving couple, capable of doing anything for each other. Thus, this title marks the third collaboration between the two musicians. And for good reason, Angèle and Damso have been particularly close for many years. In 2017, the young woman even opened for the rapper. He explains about this:
“It was logical and super easy. We both have a real and beautiful friendship. We wrote to each other again yesterday, and we laughed a lot. We just had to meet. If it hadn’t been during my first games, it would have been elsewhere”.
And the least we can say is that this complicity is reflected in their music!
Damso is indeed back!
Damso’s comeback was extremely anticipated by his fans! Indeed, the rapper had announced that he was taking a long break from his musical career, with a return scheduled for May 30, 2025. As a result, the release of “J’ai menti” is truly the event of the moment, and a real surprise for the rap world. It therefore seems that the artist has changed his mind. At the microphone of ParisianDamso says, with a touch of humor:
“I said that I was ending my career with the album ‘Beyah’, but in the meantime, a fan asked me for songs, and so today I am releasing this album, which was initially supposed to be just an EP”.
He adds:
“Stopping music would allow me […] to try other things […]. But if I release an album called ‘I lied’, I can also do ‘I lied again’”.
What does Damso have in store for us for the rest of his career? We can’t wait to find out!
