The City of Harmony Orchestra begins its 2024/2025 season

The OHVN is starting its 2024/2025 season with a “families” concert. Listen without moderation, Sunday November 17, 11:30 a.m., at the Jean-Jaurès auditorium.

The group was created more than 100 years ago and its motto is: “music must humbly seek to please. » This quote from Claude Debussy, the Orchestra has made it its compass. With new, demanding programming aimed at as many people as possible.

From Sunday November 17, this will apply to the “families” concert. Fun and educational, it will highlight Leroy Anderson, one of whose songs The Typewriter was popularized by a Jerry Lewis sketch. It is also an opportunity to present the Orchestra’s instruments to the public, children or adults, in dedicated sequences.

With a desire to offer joyful and festive themes. The Christmas concert, which will take place on December 15, will give pride of place, among others, to Gershwin, Strauss, Bizet and again to Anderson.

In March, the Orchestra will put on “its show” with film music, variety music or jazz.

The last big meeting will take place in the spring. Entitled Windows on the World, it will highlight music from all over the world, from Africa to England, Cuba and Japan. The 70 musicians of the Harmony Orchestra – aged 11 to 74 – are already working hard to offer these concerts which are now essentials on the Nivernais agenda.
