The world of student cinema is full of innovative and daring projects, and this year, RUMBLE is a telling example. This live-action film, incorporating quite stunning special effects (VFX), not only captivated the audience and the judges, but it also won two prestigious distinctions at the International Cineverse Film Festival 2024: Best Student Film and Best Visual Effects.

An ambitious achievement driven by passion

Made by a team of students passionate about cinema, RUMBLE stands out for its ambition and attention to detail. Thanks to the masterful use of special effects, it tells an immersive adventure where technology and emotion meet. Its story immerses spectators in a parallel universe of a frantic mosquito race, through the kitchen of a restaurant.

Remarked technical mastery

The quality of the special effects was one of the most praised elements during the festival. Using a combination of cutting-edge VFX, 3D modeling and ingeniously integrated overlays, the film succeeds in transporting the viewer into a world that is both believable and fantastical. The jury of the Marseille International Cineverse Film Festival highlighted the visual coherence of the film, as well as the way in which the special effects directly served the narrative, without ever taking over the story itself.

What is particularly impressive is that RUMBLE was entirely produced by 3rd year Bachelor Cinema, 3D Animation & VFX students from Objectif 3D school. The hard work behind each visual element demonstrates deep technical understanding and boundless creativity. The festival’s recognition for Best Visual Effects is therefore well deserved, rewarding the team’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of student cinema.

A prize for the best student production

In addition to the visual effects, RUMBLE also won the Best Student Film award out of more than 600 entries. This award rewards not only the technical excellence of the film, but also the quality of its direction, its script and its acting performances. The film manages to captivate from the first seconds, by accurately mixing dramatic tensions, action, and a touch of humor which recalls the inventive spirit of the young filmmakers.
