Located near the Prés d’Arènes, the MIN from Montpellier (for National Interest Market), a real food logistics platform in Montpellier and breeding ground forlocal agriculturecontinues to develop. Concretely, the companies which have already established themselves in the processing center occupy 1,800 m2. Among them, we list Boc D’Oc, Lady Tofu, Label d’Occitanie, CoboSud, Le Goût du Bœuf, Le Bon Goût, Agriviva and even Meatomania. “By doubling the surface area of this center, we will also be able to accommodate new shoots of sustainable and local food processing, i.e. a thirty companies in the end,” specifies the elected representative from Montpellier.

Marie Massard recalls that the MIN, a transmission link between producers and consumers, has a double objective: to allow residents to access quality and local agricultural production. by reducing distribution circuitsand propose fair remuneration for producers and a attractive price for the consumer: “To meet these two objectives, precisely, we are modernizing the Market-Gare”, specifies the deputy mayor: “The extension of the transformation center makes it possible to attract and support companies which carry ambitious projects in sustainable food.
New sectors in 2025
In detail, the first phase of redevelopment of the transformation center has made it possible to create several private workshop-labs and a shared laboratory workshopequipment suitable for SMEs who wish to develop their activity in the development of processed products without being able to invest in the acquisition of expensive equipment… A second phase of work (on 1200 m2) is planned for 2025 For establish new sectors transformation on the MIN.
A pioneering MIN in Montpellier
Michael Delafosse, mayor of Montpellier, confirms that the rise in power of the MIN is bearing fruit: “The National Interest Market of Montpellier, whose total annual activity amounts to more than 175 million euros, is the first MIN of a Metropolis to distribute as many local products: almost 50% of activityall sectors combined! It is also the first MIN in France to have a processing center for healthy and local food serving local production.”
Marie Massard confirms that the extension of the transformation center is already a success: “ 100 direct jobs are created, as well as a new lease of life and new dynamism for the Restanque district… But we also continue to work in parallel on the City’s other major project: the creation of a Food City ».
Michaël Delafosse: 100% organic and local objective for the canteen
“Access to quality and sustainable food is one of the priorities of the City of Montpellier, in particular with support for short circuits and the strengthening of the share of organic and local products in school catering since 2020. Our objective for 2026 : that 100% of the food served in the city’s canteens comes from organic and/or local sources, thus placing Montpellier among the pioneering territories… This project, co-financed by the National Fund of Territorial Planning and Development and the Occitanie Region, will contribute to the development of the Market-Station… The expansion of the MIN processing center, the first in France, will make it possible to reconquer our food sovereignty on the one hand, and to reconnect to nature on the other hand, and finally, to support our agricultural economy by offering businesses modern and innovative equipment.”
