The event takes place from November 12 to 16, 2024, with several meetings.
The M’Lire literary week, organized by the Lamartine media library, in partnership with the Friends of the media library association, will take place from November 12 to 16, 2024. The twelfth edition is devoted to literature and games. Régine Bourgade, the mayor of Mende, was surrounded by Christophe Gaillard and Afeda Makhloufi, employees at the media library, as well as Serge Buanic, the brand new president of the Friends of the media library association, for this week’s presentation.
Cinema and workshops on the program
“This year, the chosen theme is games and throughout the week, children will receive authors in schools who will lead literary and fun workshops and on Saturday in the living room, adults will also be able to try different games and varied“, underlined Régine Bourgade. The week will begin with the screening at the Trianon cinema, at 8:15 p.m., of the film Maverick, directed by Richard Donner in 1994, in partnership with the Mendois film club. Workshops around children’s literature will be hosted in eight schools in Mende, by authors from Tuesday November 12 to Friday November 15.
Perrine Boyer, illustrator, will lead a workshop around the Little Russian album. Julia Assant, game librarian, instigator and coordinator of the Allenc Jacta Est games festival, “promises strong times of sharing, laughter and conviviality, but also which develop creativity, imagination and reflection.”
Xaviere Broncard, illustrator, will create a game of dominoes with the children. Valerian Vanhouteghem (Val), author-illustrator, will draw a monster with the children, from the album Lily and Doudoumonstre.
Sébastien Gayet, author will offer a creative orienteering race under the sign of literature, the reading and writing of his novel Mamie Fatou, the wrestler from Kinshasa.
Sylvia Figueiredo, author, illustrator will lead a workshop around kamishibaïs and games.
The great book fair at the Saint-Jean hall
The week will end on Saturday November 16 with the 12e edition of the M’Lire book fair, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Saint-Jean hall, with three booksellers, sixty authors and publishers.
The public will also be able to try games workshops with C’Chouette, Cria 48, Cariboud’bois and Ma p’tite Boîte de jeux. There will also be a Manga exhibition 3, 2, 1 GB! Mysterious disappearances in the Causses and the Cévennesoffered in partnership with the Interdepartmental Agreement of Causses and Cévennes and Belles Balades editions.
