The new film written and performed by the rapper, ten years later How far is itwill be released in cinemas in the fall of 2025. It will feature creatures from Japanese folklore.
Ten years later How far is itOrelsan finished a new film for which he wrote the screenplay. Titled Yoroithis feature film by David Tomaszewski, director of many of the rapper’s music videos, has just revealed its synopsis and release date.
“After a last grueling tour, Aurélien decides to settle in Japan with his wife Nanako, pregnant with their first child. While the young couple moves into a traditional house in the Japanese countryside, Aurélien discovers ancestral armor in a well which will awaken strange creatures, the Yokaïs…”, indicates the official synopsis.
Written and performed by Orelsan, Yoroi will be released in cinemas on October 22, 2025, right in time for the All Saints’ Day and Halloween holidays. We don’t know the casting except that Orelsan will opposite Clara Choï, seen in Midman with Karin Viard.
Between fiction and reality
An announcement published several months ago on the site figurants.com specified that it was a film “between fiction and reality” which will portray Orelsan’s fears “linked to fatherhood represented by Japanese culture”.
David Tomaszewski has worked with Oresal since the end of the 2000s. He notably directed the music video for the song The smell of gasoline.
The first film written by Orelsan, How far is ithad attracted only 244,633 entries in 2015. Since then, the rapper has played in At the station! by Quentin Dupieux and Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom by Guillaume Canet.
