The American group found a loophole so as not to charge the 3 euros of shipping costs made compulsory since 2023. The book mediator was contacted by the Ministry of Culture.

The battle had lasted for many years between French bookstores and the e-commerce giant Amazon. The lobbying of the American king of 1 euro cent delivery ultimately failed to convince, and the Darcos law of 2021, « aimed at improving the book economy and strengthening equity between its stakeholders », then gave birth in April 2023 to a floor price of 3 euros for book deliveries (for all orders below 35 euros), regardless of the sender. After respecting the measure, Amazon ended up this week finding a legal loophole into which to rush.

Its customers can now choose free delivery of their to more than 2,500 collection points spread across the country. Whether through the small lockers set up by the giant, or directly at the counter of certain partner businesses, such as supermarkets.
