Bambou talks about his relationship with Charlotte Gainsbourg, his “little sister”

Throughout the pages of his autobiographical book, Bambou looks back on his arrival in the Gainsbourg clan. In the columns of the latest issue of Match, she talks about her special relationship with Charlotte.

Upon entering Serge Gainsbourg's life in 1980, Bambou naturally frequented the singer's family. In her book “Step by step in the night”, – published by is the Gainsbourg clan.

When Serge fell under Bambou's spell, his daughter Charlotte (born from his former relationship with Jane Birkin) was still a child. In the latest issue of Paris Match (on newsstands this Thursday, November 6), the singer's muse remembers the content of their relationship.

“I knew Charlotte when she was 8 and a half years old. I taught her to knit, to embroider, to cook… She was a child who wanted to do something different every ten minutes. It required a lot of imagination. I took her to the funfair, to the Luxembourg Gardens… I relive my childhood with her. She was and remains like my little sister. »

Sharing grief

On March 2, 1991, Serge Gainsbourg died. Leaving behind him a family that is certainly blended but united. When questions about inheritance came to the table, the clan was distinguished by its calm and discretion.

Thirty years later, when Jane Birkin, Charlotte's mother, died, Bambou did not miss the call. On the steps of the Saint-Roch church in Paris, Yvan Attal (companion of Charlotte Gainsbourg) tenderly wiped away Bambou's tears.
