Aytaç Doğan’s qanoun, with its unique sounds, transported the audience into a whirlwind of emotions at the Théâtre des Régions of the Tunis Opera. Alongside his troupe, qanoun master Aytaç Doğan weaved melodies where joy and nostalgia blended harmoniously. On November 3, under the aegis of the Ankara embassy and the Yunus Emre cultural center, this concert celebrated the richness of Tunisian and Turkish cultures. The public, charmed by this magical fusion, was joined by two Tunisian artists, testifying to the depth and beauty of this musical encounter.
“It was so magnificent to combine Turkish Music and Tunisian music,” argued Tunisian singer Imen Mehrezi.
Invited to attend this musical escapade, the young woman, who represented Tunisia in the emblematic Miss World 2024 competition, highlighted “although our languages are different and there are a multitude of languages across the world , music remains this universal language which unites peoples,” she underlined before affirming “as an artist, I can testify, when I sing, everyone understands me,” assured the artist . Imen Mehrezi also said “it was a precious moment to see so many people enjoying both Turkish and Tunisian music.”
Likewise, civil society activist, Chayma Dhouibi, shared her enthusiasm: “It was a wonderful evening. Music brings civilizations together. We share a common culture between Türkiye and Tunisia, to the point that even the media can sometimes confuse them,” she stressed.
The young Tunisian also expressed her joy at having had such an experience: “It was a deeply spiritual and cultural evening. I hope I can relive such moments,” she added.
This musical concert revealed that music, a true alchemy between cultures, transcends borders and creates invisible links, uniting Tunisia and Türkiye in a symphony of shared emotions.
