Jarry: “I woke up in intensive care”

Jarry dramatically discovered that he was gluten intolerant, and it happened… In full performance! The comedian recounted this unexpected incident during his appearance on “Le Bon Dimanche show”, broadcast on November 3, 2024 on RTL. “It was in , in front of a room of 800 people. I said: “Good evening Perpignan!”, and immediately, I fainted,” he confided, even adding that he fell directly onto the spectators in the front row. He did not specify the date of this bad memory.

But his misadventures did not end there. “After that, I vomited, lost consciousness, and woke up in intensive care,” recalls Jarry, recalling a moment that was both comical and disturbing. This discomfort led him to discover that he suffers from gluten intolerance, also known as celiac disease.

This autoimmune condition causes inflammation of the intestine when we eat gluten, a protein found in certain grains. Unlike an allergy, celiac disease generally causes mild digestive symptoms, such as bloating or intestinal discomfort. However, in some rare cases like Jarry’s, the problems can be much more serious.

The only solution to avoid these symptoms is to adopt a strictly gluten-free diet. But it can be tricky because gluten hides in places you wouldn’t expect, including in some over-the-counter medications.

With humor and self-deprecation, Jarry shares this difficult experience to raise public awareness of the challenges of this disease, which requires constant vigilance to preserve one’s health. It will be on March 27, 2026 at the Geneva Arena.
