A 35-year-old man was on trial this Thursday, November 28, 2024 before the Perpignan criminal court for death threats via the internet against a former romantic relationship and possession of drugs. A case which revealed to the defendant another reality, equally frightening, fueled by anti-Semitic hatred. Almost pathological.
The thirty-year-old came forward in tears and apologies this Thursday at the end of the day before the criminal court of Perpignan. A man with an ordinary profile who makes speeches of the order of ultra-violence with the same banality.
Addicted to social networks, this employee in the cleaning sector sympathized with the complainant on an online chat room. A virtual sentimental relationship (no one can even say if they met physically) which suddenly turned into insults and death threats via this same internet thread. Jonathan A. is in his world, or rather in another reality, recluse in front of his computer constantly, smoking 20 joints a day and venting his gall. “I'm going to slit the throats of all the white bitches”, “I hope your grandmother, the bitch, burned in Auschwitz”. “I’m going to do a Samuel Paty on you”… “I was angry”, justifies the accused. “These are empty words and he is sorry for them,” supports his lawyer Me Méline Massamba-Mamfouka.

However, the accused, who has already been the subject of a call to the law for this type of racist statements, does not seem to see anything shocking in it. “I do geopolitics” he claims.
“At a time when the trial for the assassination of Samuel Paty (the history and geography professor beheaded by a Chechen terrorist in front of his college) is taking place, how is this man not being prosecuted for advocating terrorism?” denounces Me Gérald Brivet-Galaup. “Words kill, it must be remembered. Justice finally decided to keep him under the radar. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison but also given two years of probation during which he will have to fulfill various obligations.
