A new space is available to migrants who wish to improve their French. They will be able to practice the language of Molière every Wednesday evening, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Mix, a public establishment on Place de la Gare, in Delémont, where a meeting called Blabla Café will be held. Not to be confused with the Bla Bla Bar, at Cras des Moulins. The first meeting already takes place this week.
AJAM accompanies him
At the origin of this initiative, there is Türkan Gündüz, a Kurdish refugee. “Last spring, I went to an exchange of this type in a bar in Neuchâtel. I could see that it was very useful and I said to myself that we could set this up in Delémont,” explains- she said.
She first mentioned her idea to Nicole Davila, a volunteer with the Jura Association for the Reception of Migrants (AJAM) and who forms the other half of their linguistic tandem. She then spoke about it to AJAM who was immediately willing to support her in her project.
Of course, there are language courses for migrants to learn French or structures like the Caritas Reception and Meeting Place (LARC) where they can practice the language of Molière, particularly in contact with people. French speakers. But, according to Türkan Gündüz, none of these places provide a relaxed setting where refugees have the opportunity to converse informally. “As it will take place in the evening, in a bar, the atmosphere will be relaxing. Participants will be able to discuss without complexes or the fear of being judged for a mistake,” she explains.
There will be no need to register before showing up for these meetings where spontaneity is key. Although the discussions will be conducted informally, they will however be framed by themes which will change every Wednesday. Instructors will be there to facilitate discussions and support participants.
