The film “Dakirat Al Jassad” (Memory of the Body) by Moroccan director Mohamed Zeghou is in the running for the official competition of the fourth edition of the Bahrain Film Festival, which will take place from November 3 to 7 in Manama.
In this film, the filmmaker tells the story of tattooing, an aspect of Amazigh identity in Morocco, through the stories of women from several regions of the Kingdom, including Taroudant, Khenifra, Al Hoceima, Kalaat M’Gouna, Tinghir and the Aït Seghrouchen tribe of the province of Taza. According to the organizers, 89 Arab short films out of a total of 481 films were selected to compete for this edition’s awards, in five categories: narrative short films, Bahraini films, documentaries, animated films and international films. students.
As a reminder, the film “Dakirat Al Jassad” won the National Prize for Amazigh Culture for the year 2024, as the best Moroccan film in the Amazigh language, presented by the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture. The Festival will pay tribute to several artists including Mohammed Al-Mansour (Kuwait), Maryam Zayman and Fatima Abdul Rahim (Bahrain).
