The association Ciné-Cité propose Monday November 4 2024 at 8:30 p.m., at Planet’Ciné d’Alençon (Orne), in partnership with the Alençon-Quakenbrück twinning committee, the broadcast of the German film in original version (VO) “La Belleaffaires”, directed by Natja Brunckhorst.

This will be an opportunity for Laurette Dagorn, member of the Ciné-Cité association, to present the partnership alongside Corine Moinard, president of the Franco-German twinning committee.

Discover German films

“In 2023, we initiated a discovery of German films, with The wall that separates us from Zwischen uns die Mauer for middle schools, high schools and all audiences. We are renewing the experience with a recent film (summer 2024) for this event which combines culture and relaxation around a comedy,” explains Corine Moinard.

A session for middle and high school students will also be offered Tuesday November 5. “It is interesting for young people to watch films in the original version, but they are rarely German films. This cultural and linguistic school outing allows them to hear the German language and discover aspects of German history,” adds the president of the committee.

The film “La Belleaffaires” takes the form of a choral story: “1990, in the midst of the reunification of the two Germanys, workers from the same district of the former GDR found themselves unemployed. One day they discover the location of thousands of East German banknotes destined to be destroyed. They have three days to take it and convert the money into Deutsche Mark, setting up the deal that will change their lives.”
