LDoes the idea of dying make you anxious? However, it is possible to come and laugh about death, with Odette Lafleur’s play, “Who will water the plants when I am no longer here? », Thursday November 7 at 7 p.m. at the Matisse space in Soyaux. Every year, the Association for Palliative Care Charente (ASP 16) organizes an event to discuss the end of life. Often in the form of a conference-debate. This year, those responsible have chosen comedy and humor to evoke the last journey, a still taboo subject. “The conferences are geared towards professionals and caregivers. We wanted to expand the theater to the general public, allowing us to address as many people as possible,” says Laurent Yver, president of ASP 16. An evening motivated by the need to “make yourself known. Our support work is a long-term commitment, volunteers are trained and follow protocols regulated by law. They give their time to the sick, it’s very meaningful,” says the president.

An original piece where the artist, Odette Lafleur, alone on stage and former researcher, attempts an immersion in behavioral therapies to “hope to live happily while waiting for death. The idea of dying provokes different questions in each of us, choices we accept or not, and certainly anxiety. What will happen after me? This evening will allow us to think about it, to take stock, to express ourselves,” observes Jacqueline Goudoux, volunteer at ASP16. “Prociting discussion around a humorous show allows us to free up speech and understand reality. This play, which received rave reviews, also gives us the opportunity to talk about our actions and our role,” points out the president. The play will be followed by an exchange with the audience, led by representatives of ASP 16.

Thursday November 7, 7 p.m. at Matisse. Free participation for the benefit of ASP 16. Information: 05 16 29 04 39.
