Julie Bélanger: “We had a lot of fun and we kissed”

Julie Bélanger was a guest on the recent episode of the podcast Open your gamehosted by the talented and charming Marie-Claude Barrette. During it, they explored a variety of captivating topics, including menopause, their careers and romantic relationships.

At one point, Julie had to answer a question asking her at what point in her life she had to take risks.

After a moment of reflection, the host first declared that she had taken more risks on a professional level, while specifying that, on a personal level, her love story with her partner was not one.

“(…) I think of my chumit wasn’t risky, in the sense that I knew it was him (…),” she says.

Marie-Claudeintrigued, then asked her how she knew it was him.

“(…) Kissing him for the first time, we kissed and it was: Uh wooow! What did I just feel there? I haven’t felt like that in my life. And he’s a guy from the North Shore too, he’s a guy from the same place as me (…) So he remembers me from kindergarten. Her grandmother was my grandmother’s best friend (…),” she says, adding that she made the link between her boyfriend and her grandmother’s best friend, when they realized that they had the same… set of placemats knitted by their grandmothers!

“(…) It was so strong that I knew I had to follow it,” says Julie.

Marie-Claudeclearly touched by her story, then asked her how they finally met.

“(…) I had known him forever, I remember him vaguely, in primary school, in secondary school, he wasn’t my type overall and vice versa, we didn’t speak to each other. When I got to Montreal, I started hanging out with her sister by chance, through other mutual friends and she, at one point, invited her brother to a dinner and it was me who went to open the door and it did: Wooow, Ken Shuglo tabarouette! (laughs) I thought he had aged well, I thought… my God, age suits him! He’s so cute!», she recalls, specifying that at that time, she was in a relationship and that her attraction was therefore platonic.

However, one fine day, she returned to the single market, and life worked its magic.

“(…) At one point, I was no longer in a relationship and (…) hey we had a lot of fun and we kissed one evening and we said: He’s the man of my life! It was also simple (…)”, continues Juliesaying that seven or eight months later, they bought their first house together.

She reveals that she met this man just before going through a difficult time, and that he stayed by her side, becoming her refuge.

Next year, Julie and her lover, Kenwill celebrate 20 years of love.

Wow!

We wish them many more years of happiness!
