the busy life of Sanclaudian Marie-Christine Perrier

Born seventh out of nine children in the Lorge family, Marie-Christine experienced many joys during her Sanclaudian life, despite a sudden and premature widowhood at the age of 48 and a business to manage alongside her eldest son.

Driven by great energy equal to her humor, she has always been resilient and moved forward at a good pace. After her marriage, she lived for nearly 60 years in the family home of her husband, Jacques Perrier, also an emblematic figure, in the Mouton district, which she left, with regret, last year.

A life punctuated by sport

In the spirit of a family serving others, which includes many athletes and doctors, Marie-Christine Perrier has always been sporty: a lot of skiing, a little hiking and swimming and gym in her younger years. In the 70s and 80s, she took over as president of the women’s gym club La Sportive sanclaudienne, with up to a hundred girls registered for gym classes, taught by two instructors. “I have a wonderful memory of a gymnastics gathering that we organized at the Serger stadium with nearly 200 gymnasts! », recalls the volunteer. Moreover, the Latin she learned at the “Sup’” school makes her say that this word means “goodwill”. “Volunteering is the lifeblood of society,” she believes.

Fifty years of singing

At the same time, she taught physical education classes in a private school and began singing in a choir… for more than 50 years! “L’Eau vive”, an association she created in 1976 with her cousin, the Contre-Temps choir in Lons-le-Saunier with a professional musician, Georges Level, the vocal group Atout Choeur in 1991 then the A Tempo choir in 2001.

“I hosted Higelin”

The love of singing pushed her further, to where she participated for around fifteen years in the monthly rehearsals of the Choeurs du Rhône. Which brought her, with nearly 200 singers, to national and even international stages, such as in Germany with Nana Mouskouri. She took singing courses in Uzès during the summer with a head full of memories.

And what about the day when Jacques Higelin came to sing in Saint-Claude and she offered him a guest room? “We had a good laugh, he was very nice! », she admits before recounting that, due to the lack of a restaurant open on a Monday evening, she prepared an omelette/salad for the three singers of the Golden Gate Quartet.
