Radio silence. According to a specialist in the British royal family, Charles III no longer responds to calls or letters from his son Harry. Columnist for the “Daily Mail” and close to the king, Robert Hardman has published a whole series of books devoted to the British monarchy. An updated version of his latest work, entitled “Charles III: New King. New courtyard. Behind the scenes” is due out in the coming days. We learn in particular that the monarch’s entourage urged him to temporarily cut ties with his youngest son, to preserve his health.
During his last visits to the United Kingdom, Prince Harry did not see his father, apart from an express visit in February. A distance which surprised many British people and caused a lot of ink to be spilled. Robert Hardman tells Fox News: “Right now, we feel like we just need to keep the king’s stress low. We don’t want him to have to worry any more. We have the feeling that now is not the time.” The author, however, believes that Charles III has the desire to “normalize things” with Harry, in due time.
In the updated version of his book, Hardman explains that the soap opera surrounding the security of Harry and Meghan on British soil has increased tensions between the couple and the king. As a reminder, the Duke of Sussex believed that the police should systematically ensure his security when he visited the United Kingdom. British justice ruled against him. The king would have experienced this episode very badly, feeling that he would put himself in “legal danger” if he intervened in favor of his son.
Robert Hardman also reveals that Charles III finally gave up the allowance of “one million pounds sterling per year” that he paid to his brother Andrew, who was involved in the Epstein affair. “The duke is no longer a financial burden for the king,” says a source cited by the “Sun”. Andrew has not received any income since his involvement in the child sex scandal was revealed. Reluctantly, his older brother continued to pay for his security and gave him a generous allowance. It’s over.
The king has reportedly left Andrew with two options: either he finds a way to pay for his security and servants himself, or he moves to “more suitable” accommodation, such as Frogmore Cottage, Meghan and Harry’s former home. Currently, the Duke of York is said to be living with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and categorically refuses to live at Frogmore Cottage.
