For its 9th edition, Dernier Cri is taking over around fifteen venues in to sweep the spectrum of electronic music, with lives, DJ’s, but also conferences and a film.

Questioning the essence of techno culture by investing in a pioneering city of the genre in , with artistic diversity bridging live shows and DJs, conferences or even a film: this is the challenge taken up by Dernier Cri since new years.

The festival continues its pioneering role and reinvests in Montpellier from this Thursday until November 11, making the most of the diversity of places.

Whether clubs (Rockstore, Dièze, L’Antirouille), bars (Saloon, Pinata, Discopathe) or even the cinema (Diagonal) and other places of culture such as the School of Fine Arts, the MO.CO, la Panacée, Tropisme and for the first time the Jam music school and concert hall (with ECHT’s exciting live electro-hip-hop jazz!)

“This year, we are focusing the programming on novelty and the emergence of artists, without a big headliner because we haven’t had the click on a name and it is also our vocation, our DNA, to offer emerging talents. We are confident in their quality.”defends Pascal Maurin, one of the organizers, recalling the very moderate prices of the events when they are not free.

Dernier Cri is also committed to an inclusive and eco-responsible approach by highlighting a new generation of female artists. We’re talking here about Élise Massoni, Maggy Smiss, Lucile Cordova, the System Sol collective or even rising stars like DJs Tauceti and Camille Doe who will talk about their journey and their struggles before setting the dance floors ablaze.

In this eclectic program, we celebrate the evening of November 6 with the screening of The Sound of Belgium, a documentary which traces the epic of Belgian club culture through the legendary Popcorn in the 80s and 90s. Jean Bruce will also present his book New Beat, a genre close to acid-house, while the historic DJ Garfld will be responsible for a three-hour set with a strong Drum n’ bass sound (at Pinata radio, place Rondelet ).

Eco-responsibility and parity in debate with DJ and producer Camille Doe

The Dernier Cri festival begins this Thursday, October 31 at the Pinata Radio bar (14 rue Rondelet at 8 p.m.) with a meeting with DJ and producer from Camille Doe.

Co-founder of the Coco Green collective, she promotes an ethical approach to music. First of all, the environment: every summer for three years, for eight days, in the Basque Country, she goes by bike, accompanied by partners and other artists, to the different evening venues to mix, while raising awareness of the fragility of the environment.

Producer spotted by the English legend Fat Boy Slim – she has signed four titles on his label – she also campaigns for the causes of women’s rights – support for Gisèle Pélicot in particular – and against sexism in the current music industry or even the parity at festivals.

A fan of English sounds -tek-house, speed garage – she will then mix at Rockstore (0 a.m. – 5 a.m., also with Maggy Smiss and Luigi Caligo).
