Queen Letizia of Spain attended the final of the national scientific monologue competition. This form of scientific presentation is quite particular, allowing scientific research questions to be addressed in a less formal and sometimes even humorous way.

Humorous scientific monologues presented to Queen Letizia
This May 28, 2024, Queen Letizia attended, at the Circle of Fine Arts in Madrid, the final of a scientific competition organized by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). This is a scientific monologue competition “Sólo de Ciencia”. Participants competed by presenting a monologue of just 3 minutes, in which they described a scientific fact in an entertaining and humorous way.

Queen Letizia was accompanied by Minister of Science and Innovation Diana Morant at the event. The monologues, quoted by Casa Real, address very different topics, such as the use of microorganisms to make fashion a more sustainable sector, an ecological and environmentally friendly cooling system, health benefits whole wheat flour or the latest research in the creation of biofuel cells.
Queen Letizia and the Minister presented the first prize to Jara Pérez Jiménez, after attending the presentation of the monologue of the eight finalists. The winner works at the Institute of Food and Nutrition Science and Technology. She presented a monologue on refined and whole wheat flours and their properties based on the type of fiber they contain. Jara Pérez Jiménez will represent Spain in the next Ibero-American final which will take place in Peru on November 28.
