Sauveterre-de-Rouergue. An artistic and cultural surge at the center of artistic crafts in the Pays Ségali

If not hot, autumn will be joyfully bustling with artistic and cultural events organized by the Pays Ségali arts and crafts center and its members.

The Pole Museum, on the first floor of the Ancre, will host the temporary exhibition Noor by the artist Soia from October 18 to December 29. Noor invites you to get lost in a landscape inspired by the south of Morocco. From the aridity of this stony desert, to the movement of the species that live there and its lack of water, everything that makes up this territory is filled with light. A very special light, above all, a spiritual resource.

The weavings that will be presented are the result of collaborative work between Amazigh women and the artist Soia. The knot of the carpet sets the tone, tames the landscape and becomes an everyday companion, a vector of emotion and know-how. Noor is a mass-dyed exhibition of wool and fabric. It closes the 2024 program of temporary exhibitions, associated with the permanent exhibition of the pole museum, supported by the department of Aveyron, Pays ségali community and the commune of Sauveterre-de-Rouergue. The opening evening, in the presence of the artist and open to the general public, will be held on Friday October 18 from 6 p.m.

In the same movement, the resident artists and craftsmen of the center are spreading across the Aveyron territory. A first stop at the Café du Center in La Fouillade for the “café-passé” photography exhibition by Christophe Spiesser scheduled until October 31.

A second at the Cassagnes-Béghonès media library for the exhibition of photographs and paintings Column 10 by Boris Bineau and Laure Sadaka hanging until October 30. Then a last one at the Capucines gallery of the MJC in Onet-le-Château for the painting exhibition Retrospective of an Unknown by Laure Sadaka from November 7 to 29.

Finally, the last show of the year: the winter craft market on the square with the arcades of Sauveterre-de-Rouergue organized each year on the second weekend of December by the Pays Ségali arts and crafts center.

For this 9th edition, which will be held on December 7 and 8, around forty artists and craftsmen from all over Occitania, currently being selected, will exhibit their creations and share this festive moment with the public. Artistic activities will also be there. Notice to creators, the call for applications is open until November 5.

It is with joy and cheerfulness that the team of the Pays Ségali arts and crafts center invites you to come and share artistic, artisanal and cultural moments in the Aveyron region throughout the fall.

The agenda of the activities of the center and its members can be consulted on the association’s website: www.artetsavoirfaire.com
