Cairn Studio was launched in 2021 by Guilhem Brouillet, cinema enthusiast and doctoral student in Media History at the University of Montpellier. With his partner Félix Abt, a trained colorist, the two friends first created this studio, in order to be able to find financing to make a documentary. “Guilhem specializes in documentaries. At the beginning, Cairn studio was a bit of a toolbox. explains Félix Abt, technical director. Little by little, the studio expanded and now offers a post-production service. Based in the Lapeyronie district of Montpellier, they advocate made in Montpellier.

Making a film from A to Z in Occitania

In a 100 m² premises, two rooms are available to cinema professionals: one for image editing and a room for sound editing and calibration. Calibration allows you to correct the saturation and colors of the image. “We want to prove to Parisian producers that we can come and make a film from A to Z in .” Cairn Studio has been able to carve out a place for itself since they have already collaborated on around a hundred films and documentaries. They now work with local and international producers. “At the local level, for example, we worked on series like Murder in Nîmes.”

This year, Cairn Studio is participating in the 48h of Cinemed film. A short film competition organized by Moonstree Films in collaboration with the Mediterranean Cinema Festival in Montpellier. Participants have only two days to create a work based on randomly drawn instructions. The competition ends with a special screening of 15 films selected by a jury and the awards ceremony during the CINEMED Festival on October 21. This is where Cairn Studio comes in. The winner will be able to do their calibration in their studio. “We want to help young directors in their projects in our own way.”
